I pledge undying hostility to all forms of racism, explicit and implicit; individual and systemic.

I acknowledge that the United States is neither colorblind nor post-racial, and that to deny the existence of racism and the lived experiences of millions of people of color is to deny their very humanity and indeed say their lives do not matter. It is racism in its purest and most insidious form.

In order for our country to fulfill its promise of liberty and justice for all, I believe it must first step out of denial and into the uncomfortable truth that it has major problems when it comes to race.

I realize I cannot be part of the solution if I’m part of the problem. Therefore, I commit to doing my part to move America to a more honest place on race, starting with myself.

As part of my commitment, I will:

  1. Take the implicit racial bias test

  2. Submit a reflection about the experience and share it with your social networks with #CheckYourBias.

  3. Learn more about racial bias and systemic racism.

  4. Encourage others to do the same.

I believe that together, we can compel our nation to face the realities of its racial past and present, and build a more just and equitable future for America.

It starts today with me.
